Tracey Hathaway was named the Compliance Officer/Assistant Academic Advisor for the University of Massachusetts Boston athletics department in August of 2013.
As the compliance officer, Hathaway will oversee the NCAA compliance for all 18 varsity sports teams, student-athletes, coaches, athletic staff, and all appropriate university personnel. She will also monitor the NCAA-mandated requirements as well as all the rules and regulations set forth by the NCAA. As assistant academic advisor, she will provide academic support and counseling for student-athletes in assigned sports and assist all athletes with academic and career development.
Hathaway comes to Boston after working for the last two years at Concordia University Texas in Austin. At Concordia, she served as the senior woman administrator (SWA) and assistant athletic director (AAD) for the 13 NCAA Division III varsity sports. Among her responsibilities while serving as SWA and AAD was supervision and implementation of new strategies to help develop the athletic department as a whole.
No stranger to New England institutions, Hathaway has also worked at Northeastern University as a compliance assistant and at Roger Williams University in Newport, Rhode Island, where she served as the head women’s basketball coach and compliance coordinator.
Hathaway is a 1986 graduate of the University of Rhode Island, where she received her bachelor of science degree in urban affairs. She also holds a master’s degree in sports leadership from Northeastern University.
