Boston Harbor

If the beautiful on campus view of the Boston Harbor isn't enough, UMass Boston students have the luxury of their campus being conveniently located only minutes away from downtown. The close proximity allows for many to enjoy and explore the city, and in doing so making it their extended classroom.

 

 

 

 

JFK Library 

While attending UMB, scholars have the opportunity to get out and experience all that `Beantown' has to offer. The history, culture, sports, entertainment, parks, food and people are just a few reasons why many consider Boston a college town. Each year the city and surrounding area welcome more then 250,000 students from all over the world, all of whom are in luck because there is always something to do.

 

 

 

 

 

Walking the Freedom Trail, visiting the Old North Church or stepping aboard the U.S.S. Constitutional are popular historical sites that help many relive the events of the American Revolution in Boston, a city that played a key role in our nations victory to freedom.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Zakim Bridge

The Museum of Fine Arts and Isabella Stewart Gardener Museum provide a cultural and artistic look into some of the world's most historic paintings and sculptures. Students have access to both museums free of charge with a Student ID card.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Fenway Park 

Now is the time to catch a sporting event as Boston is the home to the 2004 & 2007 World Series Champion Boston Red Sox, 2008 NBA Champion Boston Celtics and the Boston Bruins. The Red Sox play their home games at America's most beloved ballpark, Fenway Park, and fans can take an informative and fun ballpark tour any day of the week. The Celtics and Bruins share the TD Banknorth Garden as their home arena, which replaced the historic Boston Garden in 1995.

 

 

Blue Man Group 

Broadway shows are produced year round in Boston's Theater district. The Blue Man Group are a mainstay in the entertainment circuit while popular ballet's, musical acts, and plays circulate throughout the year at historic venues that include Symphony Hall and The Wang Theater.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Swan Boats in Public GardenWhen the weather is nice out, spending an afternoon in the Boston Common is a great stop. The Common is America's oldest city park and has just over 50 acres of land. Inside the park you will find beautiful gardens, multiple fountains, public tennis courts and athletic fields and one of the main attractions, Frog Pond, which is great for boat rides during the summer or ice skating in the winter.

 

 

 

Fanueil Hall 

Hungry? Make sure to visit Faneuil Hall and Quincy Market for some of the best food on the East Coast. Quincy Market has over 40 restaurants to choose from including the famous replica of the sports bar and grille, Cheers.
