CAESAR LEADS INDOOR TRACK AND FIELD AT NCAA III MEN'S AND WOMEN'S NEW ENGLAND REGIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS

CAMBRIDGE, MA/BRUNSWICK, ME - Freshman Toren Caesar (Roslindale, MA) finished 10th in the 800 meters with a time of 1:59.61 to lead the University of Massachusetts Boston men's and women's indoor track and field team today at the 2009 NCAA Division III Men's and Women's New England Regional Indoor Track and Field Championships. The Men's Championships were hosted by MIT in Cambridge, MA, while the Women's Championships were hosted by Bowdoin College in Brunswick, ME.

Williams College won the men's team championship with 145 points.

Caesar also competed in the 4X400 meter relay with senior Emile Pierre-Louis (Archaie, Haiti), senior Carlos Cabral (Praia, Cape Verde) and junior Michael Murphy (Worceser, MA) and finished 12th with a mark of 3:31.98.

Senior Glenny Casado (Methuen, MA) led the Beacons' women with a 13th-place showing in the 55 meter preliminaries with a time of 7.77.

MIT took the women's team title with 134 points.

UMass Boston will be in action again on March 6, when it competes at the ECAC Division III Championships in Medford, MA at Tufts University.
