BOSTON, MA - The University of Massachusetts Boston men's and women's indoor track & field teams competed at both the 42nd Annual Dartmouth Relays and the RCC Tiger All Comers Invitational meets on Saturday, January 8, 2011. The Dartmouth Relays meet was hosted by Dartmouth College at the Leverone Field house in Hanover, NH while Roxbury Community College hosted the Tiger All Comers Invitational at the Reggie Lewis Center in Boston, MA.
At the Dartmouth Relays, the men's squad finished tied for 17th place with six total points while Northeastern University took home the meet title with 119.20 points. In the women's field, Dartmouth College captured the crown with 107 points.
In the men's field, sophomore Paul McEuen Jr. (Malden, MA) ran in the 400M race, coming in 32nd place with a time of 57.06 seconds while sophomore Jake Kerin (Quincy, MA) placed 14th in the 800M. crossing the finish line in 2:02.94. Freshman Xhulio Uruci (Newton, MA) ran the 1 Mile run in 4:34.42, good for 15th place and sophomore Henry Morales (Chelsea, MA) qualified for the 60M hurdle finals with a preliminary time of 9.52 seconds and then finished 13th in the finals with a time of 9.36 seconds. He finished 10th in the long jump with a leap of 6.28M Morales also attempted to clear the opening height in the high jump but was unsuccessful.
Kerin, Morales, McEuen Jr. and Uruci teamed up to compete in the Men's Distance Medley, finishing third in the event with a time of 11:38.54.
Several UMass Boston indoor track & field members also competed at the Tiger All Comers Invitational on Saturday evening.
Freshman Lenford Coote (Sierre Leone) finished fourth in the 55M dash with a time of 6.75 seconds.
Juniors Oliver Dantiste (Port-au-Prince, Haiti), Willie Francois (Roslindale, MA) and sophomore Jeff Laurore (Malden, MA) all raced in the 400M event. Dantiste finished ninth with a time of 56.16, Laurore 11th at 57.23 and Francois came in 18th with a time of 1:03.43.
Freshman Kadeem McIntosh (Brockton, MA) and junior Nephatly Jean-Felix (Dorchester, MA) competed in the 200M race with McIntosh finishing seventh with a time of 25.06 seconds while Jean-Felix finished 14th clocking in at 26.44 seconds. Both Coote and Jean-Felix also participated in the Shot Put event with Coote completing a throw of 8.54M for a sixth place finish and Jean-Felix connecting on a throw of 7.45M and a seventh place finish.
In the women's field, sophomore Audra Hite (Dorchester, MA) won the high jump event with a leap of 1.37M
Freshman Anitra Kloczewiak (Newton, MA) competed in two events, finished 11th in the 55M dash with a time of 8.57 seconds and 15th in the 200M event, crossing the finish line in 30.26. Freshman Ariana Leao (New Bedford, MA) and junior Rebecca Gabai (Brookline, MA) both raced in the 800M race for the Beacons. Leao finished fifth with a race time of 2:41.86 while Gabai finished seventh, crossing the finish line in 3:10.50.
Both squads will be back in action Saturday, January 15 when they head to Waltham, MA to compete in the Brandeis Invitational on the campus of Brandeis University.
