NORTH DARTMOUTH, Mass. – For the second straight week a member of the UMass Boston track and field and men’s basketball team were recognized by the Little East Conference for their standout performances. This week it was freshman sprinter Kebba Nasso (Attleboro, Mass.) and freshman guard Mike Caceres (Opa-Locka, Fla.) that were honored by the conference.
Nasso capped off another stellar weekend with a pair of individual program records and one relay record. His first record breaking performance came in the 200 meter dash as the Attleboro native recorded a time of 22.45 seconds in the event. He then helped the 4x200 relay team to a new program best time of 1:36.53. Nasso closed out Saturday’s meet with a leap of 44-10.25 feet in the triple jump to win the event.
In the lone contest for men’s basketball last week, Caceres led the Beacons with a team-high 15 points on 6-of-10 shooting. The Florida native also grabbed three rebounds. Saturday’s performance marked the fourth time this season that Caceres has finished in double-figures against a Little East Conference opponent.
