BOSTON, Mass. - In their 2011 opener the University of Massachusetts Boston men's cross-country team placed second at the Emmanuel College Fens Cross Country Classic Saturday afternoon at Robert Clemente Field.
Taking the team championship was Roger Williams University, while host Emmanuel College finished in third place. Taking three of the top-5 spots belonged to Roger Williams, while the final two spots belonged to the Beacons John Kerin and Xhulio Uruci.
Kerin closed out his first meet of the year with a final time of 15:45.50, while Uruci placed fifth with a time of 15:50.90. Travis Delaney earned a 14th place finish with a final time of 16:54.80. In 28th place was Jeff Laurore who finished the meet with a time of 21:38.90.
Closing out Saturday's meet was Christopher Chapin with his time of 22:16.80 (30th) and Ming Wang with his time of 23:21.60 (31st).
Cross country returns to action on September 17 when they take part in the UMass Dartmouth Invitational. Start time is scheduled for 11 a.m.
