BOSTON, MA - Sophomore Chris Chapman (Brockton, MA) and freshman Heather Lucas (Milford, MA) led the University of Massachusetts Boston men's and women's cross country teams today at the 43rd Annual Codfish Bowl race at Franklin Park in Boston, MA.

Chapman paced the UMass Boston men with a 70th-place finish clocking in at 28:19 to lead the Beacons' men's squad. Brennan Bonner of the Great Boston Track Club led the field as the top overall finisher in the eight-kilometer run with a time of 26:07 while Noah Graboys of Bates was the first collegiate finisher, placing second overall with a time of 26:10. Bentley University won the men's team event finishing with 72 total points.

Sophomore Ming Wang (Ying Kou, China) finished in 255th place with a time of 34:45 and was the only other UMass Boston male in the race.

Lucas was the top finisher for the Beacons' women, coming in at 23:15 in the five-kilometer run, finishing 121st overall. Joan Bohlke of the New Balance Boston club took the top spot on the women's side with a mark of 18:27 while Emma Lundberg of Southern New Hampshire University was the top collegiate finisher, placing fourth overall with a time of 19:30.The Great Boston Track Club won the women's race with 28 total points while Bates was the top college with 149 points in second place.

Junior Michelle Gildea (Dorcester, MA) clocked in a time of 30:10 for a 233rd place finish while sophomore Tunisia Mambala (Los Angeles, CA) was not far behind, finishing in 236th place overall at 30:42.

UMass Boston will run again on Saturday, October 2 when the squads travel to East Providence, RI to compete in the at the Community College of Rhode Island (CCRI) Invitational at 10:00 a.m.
