WENHAM, MA - University of Massachusetts Boston sophomore Patrick Day (Quincy, MA) was the Beacons' top finisher at the Pop Crowell Invitational with a time of 29:03 to finish 57th in the eight-kilometer race which was hosted by Gordon College today in Wenham, MA.

Emerson College's Brandan Fox won the race with a time of 28:51 for the men and University of Southern Maine took the team title with a score of 58. The Beacons finished 13th as a team with 420 points.

Junior Mitchell Haley (Dorchester, MA) clocked in with a time of 30:30 to place an even 100th for UMass Boston, while sophomore Craig Myers (Weymouth, MA) crossed the finish with a time of 31:07 to place 113th. Sophomore John Merriman (Washougla, WA) improved his personal-record for the third straight meet with a time of 32:16 to finish sixth among UMB competitors and 143rd overall.

Junior Joy Risko (Bristol, RI) turned in a time of 23:57 for the UMass Boston women as the team's top finisher in 159th place. Catheryn Lariviere finished the five kilometer trek with a time of 18:32 for Emmanuel College as the top finisher and Westfield State won the team competition with 49 points.

Sophomore Michelle Gildea (Dorchester, MA) and junior Oanh Nguyen (Brighton, MA) each registered a time of 31:13 to finish 266th and 267th, respectively for the Beacons. Nguyen's time was a season-best, eclipsing her previous best time by 1:31.

UMass Boston will run again on Friday, October 17 when it travels to nearby Franklin Park in Dorchester to compete in the Emmanuel College Saints Invitational at 4:00 p.m.
