WILLIAMSTOWN, MA - Sophomore Patrick Day (Quincy, MA) finished 190th overall with a time of 30:07.9 in the eight-kilometer race to lead the University of Massachusetts Boston men's cross country team today at the 2008 NCAA Division III Men's and Women's New England Regional Cross Country Championships hosted by Williams College in Williamstown, MA.
Leavitt paced the Beacons to a 43rd place team finish with 1203 points.
Edgar Kosgey of Williams College won the eight kilometer race for the second consecutive year with a time of 25:52.7 to lead the Ephs to the team title with 36 points.
Sophomore John Merriman (Washougal, WA) was UMass Boston's second finisher with a time of 31:37.9 to place 240th, while junior Fabien Richard (Port-au-Prince, Haiti) clocked in with a time of 32:17.4 to finish 252nd. Senior Ryan Norton (Walpole, MA) registered a 269th place showing with a mark of 33:09.1 and senior Michael Murphy (Worcester, MA) rounded out the scoring with a time of 33:54.7 to come in 283rd.
Junior Joy Risko (Bristol, RI) was the top finisher for UMB's women with a time of 29:56.6 to place 266th overall in the six kilometer trek, while junior Vivian Nassali (Kampala, Uganda) finished 305th with a mark of 32:13.9.
Elise Tropiano of Amherst College broke the tape with a mark of 21:49.3 to finish first overall, while Middlebury College captured the women's title with 57 points.
