WALSH NAMED ECAC DIVISION III NEW ENGLAND PLAYER OF THE YEAR
CENTERVILLE, MA - University of Massachusetts Boston baseball player Ryan Walsh (Newton, MA) was named the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III Baseball Player of the Year, it was announced today by Patrick Stewart, Director of Communications for the ECAC. Walsh was also named an ECAC Division III New England First Team All Star.

FORMER UMASS BOSTON SECOND BASEMAN SIGNS PRO CONTRACT WITH NEWARK BEARS
NEWARK, NJ - Former University of Massachusetts Boston baseball player Ryan Walsh (Newton, MA) has signed a professional baseball contract with the historic Newark Bears franchise of the Canadian American Association of Professional Baseball League. The two-time NCAA Division III ABCA/Rawlings All-American is the second UMass Boston player to sign a professional contract within the last three years as former Beacons pitcher Nick Conway (Methuen, MA) signed with the Worcester Tornados in 2009.

THREE BASEBALL PLAYERS OFF TO GOOD STARTS IN SUMMER LEAGUES
BOSTON, MA - Three players from the University of Massachusetts Boston baseball team are currently playing summer ball in prestigious leagues around the country. Sophomore pitcher Daniel Heefner (Tracy, CA), sophomore pitcher Tom Cole (Mattapoisett, MA) and freshman pitcher Gabe May (Portsmouth, NH) are all representing the Beacons well in their respective leagues.

11 STUDENT-ATHLETES NAMED TO LEC ALL-ACADEMIC TEAM
NORTH DARTMOUTH, MA - Director of Communications the Little East Conference, Jack Holleran, announced today the LEC All-Academic team for the 2011 spring season. A total of 155 student-athletes representing all eight of the Little East Conference institutions earned this honor based on outstanding performance in the classroom including 11 student-athletes from the University of Massachusetts Boston.

WALSH NAMED TO NCAA DIVISION III ABCA/RAWLINGS ALL-AMERICAN FIRST TEAM
APPLETON, WI - University of Massachusetts Boston baseball player Ryan Walsh (Newton, MA) was named to the NCAA Division III American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA)/Rawlings All-American First Team, it was announced earlier this week. Walsh makes his second consecutive appearance as an ABCA/Rawlings All-American, earning Third Team honors last season. He is one of two Little East Conference representatives on the First Team, sharing the prestigious honor with Jim Schult of Eastern Connecticut State University, who was named the Division III Co-Player of the Year.

BOSTON, MA - University of Massachusetts Boston baseball player Ryan Walsh (Newton, MA) was named to the D3baseball.com All-American First Team, the website announced today. Walsh makes his second consecutive appearance as a D3baseball.com All-American, earning Third Team honors last season. He is the only member of this year's First Team infield recipients to earn repeat honors.
