CHELMSFORD, Mass.—Senior Jamill Moquete (Boston, Mass.) was named the Future Collegiate Baseball League (FCBL) Player of the Month in June, the league office announced earlier this month.
The Wachusett Dirt Dawgs center fielder, who leads the FCBL in home runs, runs batted in and runs scored, dominated the league's pitching throughout the month of June.
Moquette finished the month hitting .333 (14-for-42) with four doubles, four home runs, 15 RBI and 14 runs scored. He provided the majority of the damage in the team's five wins during the month, hitting .400 with 11 runs batted in.
The turning of the calendar has not slowed him down either, as Moquette was recently named Co-Player of the Week on Monday. In seven games, he batted .522 (12-for-23) with three home runs and nine runs scored. On the season, Moquette leads the entire league with seven home runs and 25 runs batted in and sits second amongst all FCBL players with a .386 batting average.
Moquette and Beacons catcher Todd Ezold (Westfield, Mass.) have combined to get the Dirt Dawgs within three game of .500 (13-16) and have already helped the franchise surpass their 2012 win total.
The FCBL is in its third season and stands as on the top collegiate summer leagues in the country, with a strong emphasis on showcasing local talent.
