BOSTON, Mass. – After securing the 2017 Little East Conference Tournament championship on Saturday, the 21st/22nd ranked Beacons have been selected as the top-seed in the NCAA New England Regional Tournament, which will be played at Whitehouse Field in Harwich, MA beginning on Thursday.
The Beacons will face Penn-State Berks, who are the eight-seed, at 1 p.m. on Thursday, May 18. The meeting will mark the second-ever between the two programs, having met at the 2016 NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional Tournament.
UMass Boston has faced every team in this year's bracket with the exception of St. John Fisher College. The Beacons did face the Cardinals at last year's NCAA regional tournament. St. John Fisher won the Mid-Atlantic region in 2016.
Tickets for each game are $3.00, while an All-Tournament pass will be sold on the first day of the tournament for $30.00.
The seeding for this year's regional tournament is #1 UMass Boston, #2 Arcadia University, #3 St. John Fisher College, #4 Salve Regina University, #5 Babson College, #6 Suffolk University, #7 Worcester State University, and #8 Penn-State Berks.
The winner of the New England regional will advance to the College World Series which will be held in Appleton, Wisconsin next week.
