BOSTON, Mass. – Senior first baseman Chris Fowler (Barnstable, Mass.) has been named a D3Baseball.com Preseason All-American for the first time in his career. The Barnstable native becomes just the second player in program history to earn a Preseason All-America honor, and the first to be named a First Team selection.
Last season, Fowler collected Honorable Mention All-American honors from D3Baseball.com, after leading the Beacons to the 2017 Little East Conference and NCAA New England Regional Tournament championships, as well as the program's second appearance in the College World Series.
The program record holder for hits in consecutive games with an impressive 37 straight, the Barnstable native closed out his junior campaign with a .367 average and a team-leading four triples, seven home runs, 108 total bases, .600 slugging percentage, and .482 on-base percentage. He also closed out the year with 39 runs scored and had 13 doubles in 180 at-bats.
A D3Baseball.com and NEIBA/ABCA All-Region honoree, Fowler was one of the top players in the Little East Conference in 2017. He led the LEC in games played with 50, runs batted in with 48, and walks with 35. He was also in the top-5 in plate appearances with 224, hits, triples, home runs, on-base percentage, and slugging percentage.
The Beacons will begin their 2018 season on Friday, March 2 when they take on Lasell College at 3 p.m. at Monan Park.
