Joe Chiodo

Coach Joe Chiodo returns for his third year as a member of the UMass Boston staff in 2014.  Chiodo came to UMass Boston after serving as the head varsity coach of Watertown High School for 10 seasons (2002-11). 

During his time at Watertown, Chiodo led the program to five MIAA State Tournament berths, including a Division I North Finals appearance in 2004.  He also coached 19 players that went on to continue their careers at the college level.

Before taking over at Watertown, Chiodo served as the pitching/assistant coach at Framingham State University from 2000-2001.  He has served as the President and Manager of the Watertown Reds Baseball program since 1998, which includes an amateur team in the Intercity League as well as various AAU teams as well. 

Chiodo also serves as the Director of Player’s Edge Baseball Clinics which he began in 2003, as well as working with variety of well-known camps such as the Nomar Gariaparra, Trot Nixon, Dustin Predroia, and Jason Varitek Baseball Camps.

As a player, Chiodo played his college baseball at Framingham State University from 1993-1996.  He was named a two-time team captain and garnered All-MASCAC honors as a pitcher in 1996. In his junior season (’95), Chiodo helped the Rams pitching staff to the program’s lowest single-season earned run average with a 3.72 combined ERA.
