UMass Boston improved their record to 11-14.
The Beacons took the lead in the seventh inning, scoring three times to overcome a 2-1 deficit. Ryan Walsh (Newton, MA) led off with a single to left and then scored on a Connor Reinfurt (Manchester, NH) double that evened the score at 2-2. Vikings' starter Ryan Sharp (Townsend, MA) retired the next two batters, but after Nick Grassetti (Agawam, MA) walked and stole second, Christos Ferreira (Norwood,MA) grounded a two-run single between shortstop and third-base to give the Beacons a 4-2 lead that they did not relinquish.
Sharp pitched 6 2/3 innings giving up four earned runs on seven hits. He walked one and struck out four.
Salem State did hold an early 2-0 lead. Ryan Kane (Nahant, MA) came to the plate in the fourth with the bases loaded with no outs and hit a fly ball to deep right field that just missed leaving the ball park. It was good for a sacrifice fly that brought Kevin Salines (Melrose, MA) home. Kyle McElroy also hit a sacrifice fly to center later in the inning to put the Vikings on top 2-0.
The Vikings were only able to manage one more hit after that.
