NORTH DARTMOUTH, Mass. – For the second straight week three freshmen athletes have been recognized for their standout performances by the Little East Conference. This week it was Kirsten Morrison (Women's Basketball), Vinny DeLucia (Men's Basketball), and Kebba Nasso (Track and Field) who were recognized by the conference office.
Morrison (North Reading, Mass.) and DeLucia (Miami, Fla.) were repeat honorees having been honored by the conference last Monday. Nasso (Attleboro, Mass.) has been a consistent honoree throughout his freshman season at UMass Boston
Morrison capped off last week's team leading performance by averaging 21.7 points and 10.0 rebounds per game. In Saturday's win over Eastern Connecticut State University, which earned UMass a playoff berth, Morrison dropped in 23 points, while also earning nine rebounds. On Thursday she finished with 22 points and nine boards at Suffolk, and on Tuesday she posted 20 points and 12 rebounds against UMass Dartmouth. On the week Morrison was 26-for-51 from the field and 14-for-21 from the line. She also combined for five steals and one block as well.
For DeLucia, he capped off his rookie campaign by averaging 17 points per game, while shooting 57.1% from the field in the final two games of the season last week. The Miami native posted 16 points and handed out five assists against UMass Dartmouth on Tuesday. He then scored 18 points on 7-of-10 shooting in the near upset of Eastern Connecticut State University on Saturday.
Nasso earned his first NCAA All-New England region honors in Saturday's New England championship meet at Springfield College. The freshman sprinter posted a second place finish in the 400 meter dash with a time of 49.45 seconds, which was just 38th hundredths of a second behind the leader.
