NORTH DARTMOUTH, Mass. – After leading men's basketball to a pair of wins last week, junior center Rahshjeem Benson (Boston, Mass.) was named the Little East Conference Player of the Week for the first time in his career, as announced by the conference office.
The 6'8" center averaged a very impressive 20.0 points and 13.5 rebounds per game. The Boston native finished the 2-0 week shooting 63% from the field (17-for-27). In the Beacons only non-conference game, Benson was dominant as he led UMB to a 92-78 win over Suffolk University with his 31 points and 19 rebounds.
On Saturday, he fueled the Beacons huge conference win over Western Connecticut State University by finishing with nine points and eight rebounds. Of his 27 rebounds, the big-men recorded 10 of them on the offensive side of the court and also finished with six blocks to lead the Beacons defensive effort.
