Men's Hockey Breaks Into Top-10 In National Poll

BOSTON, Mass.—After taking three points from conference rival and nationally ranked Babson College over the weekend, UMass Boston Men's Hockey continued their unprecedented rise in the national polls Monday.

The Beacons moved all the way up to 10th in the poll, which is the second-highest ranking in program history. UMass Boston saw a similar rise in the poll, coming in at #13 in the nation.

The #10 ranking in the poll and #13 spot in the poll both reflect season-high and program records for each individual poll.

Friday night the Beacons earned a huge 7-5 victory at #14/16 Babson, after coming back from four separate deficits. Defenseman Steve Weston (Henniker, N.H.) and Cam Harvey (Bow, N.H.) scored the game-tying and game-winning goal within three minutes of each other, to lift the Beacons to their fourth straight victory.

The two teams skated to a 2-2 tie Saturday afternoon at the Clark Athletic Center, as freshman netminder Zach Andrews made 26 saves on 28 stops to extend his personal unbeaten streak to five games.

UMass Boston will return to action Friday night, when they travel to Skidmore College for an ECAC East Quarterfinals rematch.
