BOSTON, Mass.—Senior men's hockey captain Albee Daley (Averill Park, N.Y.) became only the second two-time Capital One/College Sports Information Director of America (CoSIDA) First Team All-District selection in school history, as announced by CoSIDA on Thursday afternoon.
With the first team selection, Daley is now eligible to be named a CoSIDA Academic All-American, which would also mark a first in the history of the men's hockey program, and second in the history of the UMass Boston Athletics Department.
Daley joins Krista Ledin ('15) of women's soccer and track & field as the lone UMass Boston student-athletes to earn Academic All-District honors on two occasions. Ledin was named an Academic All-District honoree in 2013 and 2014 and went on to be named a Second Team Academic All-American in both of those years.
Daley carries a 3.92 cumulative grade point average in Exercise and Health Science while also being heavily involved with UMass Boston Athletics and the greater UMass Boston community.
He became the first two-year captain under head coach Peter Belisle this fall and led the team to a 12-11-3 record. In 26 games played, Daley led finished fifth on the team with 24 points (nine goals and 15 assists) and he also tacked on seven power-play goals and one game-winning tally.
Daley also served as the Vice President of the UMass Boston Student-Athlete Advisory Committee. He also is a member of the Alpha Lamda Delta National Honor Society and was recognized as the President of the UMass Boston Physical Therapy Club.
