CROWDER NAMED ECAC EAST MEN'S ICE HOCKEY ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

CENTERVILLE, MA - University of Massachusetts Boston men's ice hockey player Michael Crowder (Flint, MI) has been named the Eastern College Athletic Conference East Men's Ice Hockey Rookie of the Week for the week of November 30 to December 6, it was announced today by the conference.

Crowder tallied a pair of goals in two games for the Beacons. The freshman helped UMass Boston to a 4-4 overtime tie in a road game at Trinity College (CT) with a pair of goals on December 4 to snap a 10-game winless streak to the Bantams.

The forward leads all Beacons' rookies with four points on three goals and an assist in four games this season and ranks seventh among league freshman in total points. The product of Powers Catholic High School's two-goal effort at Trinity followed another two-point performance in his previous outing in an 8-3 victory at Framingham State College on November 24. A former member of the Bay State Breakers of the Eastern Junior Hockey League, Crowder has shown good discipline in his first collegiate season, being whistled for just one penalty for the year.

The Beacons are currently 3-2-1 on the season, including 1-2-1 in league play to stand fourth in the standings with three points. UMass Boston will be in action again when it hosts ECAC East foe Babson College on Wednesday, December 9 at 7:00 p.m. at the Clark Athletic Center rink.
