PAWTUCKET, R.I. – After posting another 2-0 week, which included a 5-4 Little East Conference win over Plymouth State University a trio of Beacons have earned conference weekly honors. Matthew Duggan (Weymouth, Mass.) was named the Offensive Player of the Week, Jack Dillon (Barrington, R.I.) was named Defensive Player of the Week, and Craig Frehill (Norwell, Mass.) was named the Goalie of the Week.
Duggan had a huge week for the Beacons offense, as he combined for six goals and one assist. The sophomore attackman also had four ground balls and combined for 12 shots to lead the Beacons to their first nine win season since 2006. In the team's come-from-behind win over New England College on Tuesday, Duggan went-off for a career-high five goals and six points. He registered a pair of man-up goals in the non-conference victory, and also had one assist in the win. On Saturday, he registered the game-winning goal early in the fourth quarter to give UMass their first win over Plymouth State since 2007.
For Dillon, despite playing in just one game last week, his contributions were unmatched in the conference win over the Panthers. The 5'10" sophomore set the program record for caused turnovers in a game with eight, while also collecting 10 ground balls in the victory. Both numbers, marked new career bests for Dillon, who was named the Defensive Player of the Week two weeks ago.
Between the pipes, Frehill had another strong week for the Beacons. In the win over New England College, the Norwell entered the game early in the second quarter and made nine saves in the 12-9 win. On Saturday, he tallied 11 stops to earn his first-ever win over the Panthers of Plymouth State University.
