Truong Named Little East Defensive Player of the Week

PAWTUCKET, R.I. – For the first time in his college career, face-off man Phil Truong (Quincy, Mass.) has been named the Little East Conference Defensive Player of the Week, as announced by the conference office.

Last week, Truong had a huge day for the Beacons in the 14-6 win over Western Connecticut State University.  On 22 attempts, the Quincy native won 17 face-offs and collected a career-high 13 ground balls.  With Saturday's win, the Beacons recorded their first 10 win season since 2005.  It was also their first win over the Colonials since 2006.

To date, Truong sits second in the Little East Conference with 114 face-off wins on 224 attempts.  He currently has 50 ground balls to his credit, and has forced a pair of turnovers.  His strong play this season, has been a major factor in the Beacons success, as they sit tied for second in the conference standings.
