BOSTON, Mass. – Senior long stick midfielder Jack Dillon (Barrington, R.I.) continues to pull in postseason honors as he was named to the New England Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (NEILA) East-West All-Star game.
A total of 50 student-athletes will compete in this year's East-West Senior All Star Game on Friday, June 1st.
The game will take place at Penmen Stadium in Hooksett, New Hampshire at Southern New Hampshire University. Face-off will be at 6:30 pm and will feature the top graduating students from Divisions 1, 2, and 3.
Dillon, who was a member of two of the most successful teams in the last decade, became the first Beacon to be selected to the prestigious All-Star game since Phil Truong and Calvin Lee were selected in 2016.
During his four seasons at UMass Boston, Dillon played a major part in the Beacons become one of the top programs in the Little East Conference. In 2017, he led UMB back to the LEC title game in over a decade. As a senior, Dillon continued to rewrite the record book, as he closed out his time on the harbor campus with a program record 120 caused turnovers. His 232 ground balls has him ranked fourth in program history.
All players and coaches were nominated by the head coaches within the NEILA. Players were then ranked and selected by a committee awarding seniors from all three NCAA Divisions who played their college career in the New England region.
The NEILA East-West game also gives assistant coaches from some of the top programs each year the opportunity to take the reins as the coaching staffs of each team. This year, the West will be coached by Ben Lanman of Southern New Hampshire, Matt Dalton of Springfield College and Andrew Deane of Western New England University. The East will be head manned by Trevar Haefele of Bates College and Joe Horgan of Saint Joseph's (ME).
