MEN'S LACROSSE DEFEATED AT SALEM STATE, 8-4

SALEM, MA -- Jonathan Falls and Justin Jones each tallied a pair of goals to lead the Salem State men's lacrosse team to an 8-4 victory over University of Massachusetts Boston in the Little East conference opener for both teams on Saturday afternoon in Salem, MA.
Falls, who now leads the team in goals scored with 15, scored with 5:27 remaining in the second period to give Salem State a 1-0 lead. Brandon Cali and Alex Robertson increased the Vikings' lead by two goals before the half as Salem State (5-2, 0-1) took a 3-0 lead into the break.
UMass Boston (2-4, 0-1) struck twice in the opening minutes of the third period as senior attackman Dale Nunn (Hillsborough, NJ) and senior midfielder Al Craven (Milton, MA) each scored to pull the Beacons to within 3-2.
After Jones gave Salem State a 4-2 lead, Nunn scored his second goal of the game midway through the third period to again pull UMass Boston to within one score at 4-3.
Salem State finally pulled away as Robert Mulroy, and Kyle Dolan each scored to bookend a goal by the Beacons' Pat Driscoll (Hingham, MA) and give the Vikings a 6-4 lead. Jones and Falls closed out the scoring for Salem State, which has won three straight games.
Brendan Gill picked up the win in goal for Salem State recording nine saves. Freshman Jake Gostanian (Andover, MA), who made eight stops in goal, suffered the loss for UMass Boston.
Salem State forced 10 UMass turnovers and held a 37-30 edge in shots.
Salem State will host Emerson College on Thursday night April, 8th at 8:00 PM at Alumni Field while UMass Boston hosts MIT on Tuesday, April 6th at 4:00 PM.
