WILLIMANTIC, Conn.--UMass Boston men's soccer (3-9-2, 0-5 Little East Conference) couldn't slow down the high-powered #25 Eastern Connecticut State University (12-0-1, 4-0-1 LEC) attack as the Warriors grabbed a 7-0 victory Saturday afternoon at Nevers Field.
Five different Warriors scored and nine players recorded points, as Eastern Connecticut State University stayed unbeaten on the season and in Little East play.
Sophomore Douglas Silveira (Revere, Mass.) led the Beacons with four shots, while sophomore goalkeeper Bryce Menard (Randolph, Mass.) made two saves for UMass Boston.
Eastern Connecticut jumped out to a 1-0 lead 4:07 into the game when Mitch Power scored the first of his two goals. The Warriors would add two more goals in the first 35 minutes against Menard, who allowed five goals on seven shots.
The second half would be more of the same, as the home team found the back of the net twice within the first 10 minutes of the second half.
Senior Hamza Abdul (Chelsea, Mass.) made his second appearance of the season, when he replaced Menard over the final 32 minutes.
UMass Boston will have a week off, before playing their Senior Day Game next Saturday against Western Connecticut State University at 1 p.m. The Beacons will honor their seven seniors before the contest.
