The 2012 season will mark the 10^th year for head men’s soccer coach Myles Berry.  The second longest tenured coach in the program’s history, Berry has helped the program improve into a conference tournament contender every season he has been on the bench.

Last season, Berry brought the Beacons back to the postseason after a four-year hiatus.  After recording his second 11-win season, UMass entered the ECAC New England Tournament as the fourth seed which was the highest ranking ever in the programs history.    

Since taking over the program in 2003, Berry has guided the Beacons to .500 or better records four-times, which included a pair of 11-win seasons in 2011 and 2006. In 2006, Berry nabbed Little East Conference Coach of the Year honors after leading UMass Boston to their first Little East Conference tournament semi-final round appearance.

Under his tutelage Berry has seen 10 of his players earn Little East All-Conference accolades, including six on the first team.  He has also coached the Little East Conference Rookie and Offensive Player of the Year in Stefanos Galouzis.   Four of his players have also gone on to earn NSCAA All-Region honors, with two also selected to the NEISL Senior All-Star Game.

Berry is not unfamiliar to the Beacons' soccer scene, holding the distinction as UMass Boston's first-ever Head Women's Soccer Coach from 1995-97. He ranks second for coaching wins in women's soccer with 16.

Prior to his arrival to the Harbor campus, Berry coached next door, guiding the boys' soccer squad at Boston College High School as the Eagles' Head Coach for 12 seasons from 1980-1991 . During his time at BC High, he posted a 104-58-38 record and led the Eagles to a pair of Catholic Conference Championships as well as eight state tournament appearances.

Berry played his collegiate soccer at Boston College, where he was a defensive starter under three different head coaches.

Not only has the longtime UMass Boston coach excelled on the soccer sidelines, but he was also the Beacons' Men's Lacrosse coach for 20 seasons and compiled 152 victories to rank in the top-30 on the NCAA's all-time list.
