Boston, MA - Casey Shane (Jr., New York NY) scored the game's only goal to bring The Lions a 1-0 win over UMass Boston at Rotch Field today.
Before the game Coach Jared Scarpaci said that he hoped to preserve the momentum from last weeks 3-1 win over Eastern Nazarene College.
"We're looking for a solidly played game and to continue what we had done over at Eastern Naz," he said.
Head Coach of UMass Miles Berry said that he was looking for his team to continue with the momentum they had in the second half of their game last week.
With the coaches from both teams looking to continue momentum from the previous weeks, the game came down to a kinetic battle for dominance of the field.
Derek Dumont,(Jr., Pittsburgh PA) normally a goal keeper, was pressed into field action because heat forced substitutions early in the game. "I just went out there and did what I could," he said.
Casey Shane said that despite his kicking the winning goal that the victory belongs to the entire team stalwartly dominating defensively, in spite of heat that made it like playing inside closet full of teddy bears.
UMass Boston sophomore keeper Domenick Persuitte (West Barnstable, MA) stopped three shots on the day.
