NORTH DARTMOUTH, MA - University of Massachusetts Boston men's soccer player Domenick Persuitte (West Barnstable, MA) has been named Little East Conference Men's Soccer Goalkeeper of the Week for his play during the week of September 14-20, it was announced today by the conference.
Persuitte stopped every shot he faced in his only match of the week to record his second shutout in as many weeks in a 3-0 Beacons' victory over Little East Conference rival University of Southern Maine on September 19. The senior turned away five shots in 90 minutes of action to register his fourth career shutout.
The Barnstable High School product currently ranks sixth among Little East Conference keepers with a .750 save percentage, while standing eighth with a 1.75 goals against average. He's been very busy in net with 21 saves in four matches for an average of 5.25 per match to rank second in the league and his total of two shutouts this season is also the second most in the league.
In just over one season at UMass Boston, Persuitte has played in 20 matches, including every minute of every match last season. He already ranks 10th on the school's career leaderboard with 1,831 minutes played and four shutouts. The keeper owns a career 1.87 goals against mark to go with a .762 save percentage and has maintained a 6-14-0 record.
The Beacons are 2-2-1 on the season, including 1-0-0 in Little East Conference play and will be in action again on Wednesday, September 23 when they travel to Salem, MA for a 6:00 p.m. match with Salem State College.
