GALOUZIS NAMED LITTLE EAST CONFERENCE MEN'S SOCCER ROOKIE OF THE WEEK FOR THIRD TIME

NORTH DARTMOUTH, MA - University of Massachusetts Boston men's soccer player Stefanos Galouzis (Watertown, MA) has been named Little East Conference Men's Soccer Rookie of the Week for his play during the week of October 24-30, it was announced today by the conference. The honor marks the fourth time this season that a UMass Boston player has been recognized with the accomplishment and the third time Galouzis has earned the honor as he was also named the Rookie of the Week for his play during the week of October 3-9 and October 17-23.

In two matches, Galouzis continued his assault on the back of the net by scoring a pair of goals for four total points for UMass Boston. The freshman registered the game-winning goal in the first overtime period to lift the Beacons past Rhode Island College, 2-1, on Saturday afternoon. Earlier in the week, he also scored against Massachusetts Maritime.

The Watertown High School product ended the regular season among the league leaders in several offensive categories, ranking first in goals scored with 12 and second in game-winning goals with four. He ranks second overall with 24 points on the season and second in the conference with an average of 1.60 points per game. The freshman's 45 total shot attempts place him second in the league and his average of 2.80 shots a contest also ranks second in the Little East Conference.

The Beacons finished the season with a 6-11 overall record, including 3-4 in Little East Conference play. The three conference victories is the most since the 2006 season and UMass Boston wrapped up the 2010 campaign with a 4-3 record at home.
