BOSTON, MA --- The University of Massachusetts Boston men's tennis team fell this afternoon to Rhode Island College, 9-0, in Little East Conference action at the Boston College High School tennis courts. With the win, the Anchormen improve to 7-3 overall, 2-0 in the LEC while the loss drops the Beacons to 1-7 and 0-2.
Senior Nathan Rebello (Pawtucket, RI) and freshman Alex Werchadlo (Woonsocket, RI) teamed up in #1 doubles play to defeat senior Himanshu Dubey (Lucknow, India) and freshman Seth Shavers (Hyde Park, MA), 8-3. Rebello would also defeat Shavers in #1 singles action, 6-1, 6-3 while Werchadlo earned a #2 singles victory over junior T. Leng (Phnom Penh, Cambodia), 6-0, 6-0.
Junior Andrey Boguslavskiy was the only UMass Boston player to take a set off the Anchormen, falling 4-6, 6-2, (10-8) to freshman Brad Lamoureux (Pawtucket, RI) in #5 singles action.
UMass Boston will return to action on Monday, April 18 when they host UMass Dartmouth for another LEC match scheduled to begin at 11:00 a.m. while Rhode Island College returns to the courts on Tuesday, April 19, also facing UMass Dartmouth in North Dartmouth, MA at 3:00 p.m.
