BOSTON, MA - The University of Massachusetts Boston men's tennis team was defeated by visiting University of Massachusetts Dartmouth, 8-1, today in a Little East Conference match played on the Boston College High School courts. The Beacons fall to 3-9 overall and 2-4, while the Corsairs improve to 9-1 and 5-1.

Senior Amit Kumar (Bangalore, India) and freshman Dara Chhan (Phnom Penh, Cambodia) teamed up to win UMass Boston's only point at third doubles with an 8-4 decision over freshman Brian Lui (Medfield, MA) and freshman Alex Ciampi.

Sophomore Mason Viau (Marion, MA) won at first singles for UMass Dartmouth over senior Paul Braude (West Yarmouth, MA), 6-3, 6-2, and paired up with senior Christoph Forster (Reading, MA) to win at first doubles over Braude and senior Eric Livingstone (Franklin, MA), 8-2. Forster won his singles match at number five over Kumar, 3-6, 6-4, 6-1. Freshman Troy Pandolfi (Danbury, CT) was the victor for the Corsairs over Livingstone at second singles, 6-4, 6-0 and teamed with junior Ken Sims (Chelmsford, MA) to trump the pair of senior Ali Al-Sabbagh (West Roxbury, MA) and sophomore Reinaldo Lopes (Brussels, Belgium), at number two doubles, 8-0. Sims defeated Beacons' senior Anh-Phi Tran (Brussels, Belgium), 6-7 (5), 6-4, 6-2 at third singles, while freshman Zach Engstrom (Taunton, MA) won at number four singles over Al-Sabbagh, 6-4, 6-1. Lui won in singles play for UMass Dartmouth at sixth singles over Chhan, 5-7, 7-5, 10-5.

UMass Boston will travel to Bridgewater, MA as the number six seed in the Little East Conference tournament and take on third-seeded Bridgewater State College on Tuesday, April 28, while the Corsairs will be the number two seed and host seventh seed Rhode Island College on April 28.
