WATERVILLE, ME --- Junior Tom Kimball (Washington, CT) and freshman Jason Ottomano (Weston, CT) each won tough matches at the first and second singles spots as the Colby College men's tennis team defeated the University of Massachusetts Boston, 9-0, on Sunday afternoon on the campus of Colby College.
Kimball took a 6-3, 4-6, 10-4 (pro-set) victory over UMass Boston freshman Lucas Parrau (Buenos Aires, Argentina) at first singles. After dropping the first set and falling behind 3-0 in the second set, Parrau was able to battle back and force the pro-set tiebreaker. Ottomano won 6-3, 6-7 (6), 10-7 over senior Enrique Flores (Guaynabo, Puerto Rico) at the number two spot, also in a pro-set tiebreaker.
The match concludes the fall portion of the Beacons season as they will not return to action until March of 2011 when the spring season picks back up.
