BOSTON, MA - The University of Massachusetts Boston baseball, softball and men's tennis teams will all head for warmer climates to begin their respective seasons starting on Friday, March 12.
The men's tennis squad heads to the Southwest to play four dual matches in Texas. The netters serve up its opener at Schreiner University in Kerrville at 12:00 p.m. EST on March 12. The Beacons follow that match with another the following day at Texas Lutheran University at 11:00 a.m. EST. UMass Boston gets back at it on March 15 with a match at Howard Payne University at 2:00 p.m. EDT and wrap up the trip in San Antonio at Our Lady of the Lake University on March 19 at 1:00 p.m. EDT.
The baseball nine will play nine games in eight days, getting into action on Saturday, March 13 vs. William Paterson University at 5:00 p.m. in Winter Haven, FL. The Beacons follow with games on each day thereafter, facing Denison University, Amherst College, Ramapo College and Hamilton College, before a double-header with Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts on March 18. UMass Boston closes out its trip with games vs. McDaniel College and Bowdoin College in the next two days.
The Beacons' softball squad will also play nine contests in a span of six days, beginning on March 14 with a singles game at 10:30 a.m. vs. Indiana Institute of Technology. The team follows that with back-to-back days with a pair of games each. UMass Boston takes on Bethany College (WV) and Babson College on March 15 and a pair of games the following day as well with games vs. Bethel University (MN) and Ripon College. The Beacons will enjoy an off day and get back at it with two games vs. Franciscan University and State University of New York Geneseo on March 18. UMass Boston caps the trip with games vs. Bates College and University of Rochester the next day.
