BOSTON, Mass. – On day two of the Boston University Terrier Classic, the men's track and field team was on full display as the Beacons set a combined three program records as well as qualifying for multiple championship meets.
Amongst the record setters was freshman Kebba Nasso (Attleboro, Mass.) whose time of 48.98 seconds set a new program best in the 400 meter dash. His new time currently stands as the fastest time recorded in the 400 meter dash in Division III men's indoor track and field.
Also improving his already record setting mark was Kirby Cole (Shrewsbury, Mass.) in the pole vault. With a leap of 13-00.00 feet Cole improved on his previous record-setting height by almost two feet. Later in the day Nasso along with Hamza Abdul (Chelsea, Mass.), Jake Kerin (Quincy, Mass.), and Henry Morales (Chelsea, Mass.) set a program record in the 4x400 meter relay with their combined time of 3:23.73.
Morales also qualified for the ECAC New England Championship meet in the 400 meter dash with a time of 50.43 seconds. Norbert Simon (Chelsea, Mass.) earned a spot in the NCAA Division New England championship meet in the 200 meter dash with his time of 23.22 seconds.
Kerin also earned a spot in the NCAA Regional and ECAC championship meets in the 800 meter run as he recorded a time of 1:56.07. Xhulio Uruci (Newton, Mass.) was the final Beacon to qualify for the NCAA regional championship, as he crossed the finish line with a new personal best in the 1 mile run with a time of 4:24.57.
Track and field returns to action next Saturday when they compete at the Tufts University Stampede Invitational.
