NORTH DARTMOUTH, Mass. - Sophomore sprinter Hulerie McGuffie (Lynn, Mass.) and junior high jumper Tylor Hart (Newton, Mass.) have been recognized by the Little East Conference for their standout performances at last weekend's Boston University David Hemery Valentine Invitational by being named the Track and Field Athletes of the Week.
With Tuesday's announcement McGuffie has now been named the LEC Track Athlete of the Week a conference best four times this season. On Friday, the sophomore All-American set the program record in the 200 meter dash on her way to the second fastest time recorded by a Division III sprinter. With a time of 25.24 seconds, McGuffie broke the original record which she set two weeks ago by .10 seconds. She currently sits fifth in Division III in the 200 meter dash with only four more meets left before the National Championship.
For Hart, he matched his program record in the high jump with a leap of 6-08.25 feet to finish second at the BU Valentine Invitational. The jump was the best mark by the junior since breaking the school record last February. To date he sits 12th in the country in the high jump going into Saturday's conference championship.
