GORHAM, Maine – At the 2013 Little East Conference/New England Alliance Championship the men's and women's cross country teams both recorded seventh place finishes Saturday afternoon on the campus of the University of Southern Maine.
Leading their respective teams was Jake Kerin (Quincy, Mass.) and Angelica Pizzi (Milton, Mass.). Pizzi recorded a 28th place finish overall with her time of 20:41.82. For Kerin, his last conference championship meet saw the senior post a time of 28:00.68 to earn 22nd place overall.
After Kerin it was Tad Delaney (Halifax, Mass.) in 28th place with a time of 28:25.70. Leon Jarvis recorded the third fastest time for the Beacons as he crossed the finish line in 54th place with a time of 31:23.45. Joe Miller (Hull, Mass.) recorded a time of 32:15.75 to earn 58th place followed by Chhenlee Ly (Leominster, Mass.) in 68th place (34:15.13). Emilio Alvarez-Flores (Mexico City, Mexico) recorded a time of 34:48.73 (69th) in Saturday's meet. Ronald Esquivel (Guatemala) and Alvarez Missick (Boston, Mass.) closed out the 2013 championship with times of 34:51.59 and 38:11.05 respectively.
On the women's side senior Ari Leao (New Bedford, Mass.) recorded a time of 23:07.40 to finish in 37th place. Right behind her teammate was Ashley Glendye (Middleboro, Mass.) with her time of 24:12.51 (38th). Renee O'Brien (Stoneham, Mass.) recorded the fourth fastest time for UMB as she crossed the finish line in 42nd place with her time of 26:10.41. After her it was Danielle Valeri (Leominster, Mass.) and Ashley Cahill (Spencer, Mass.) who finished the women's side of the championship meet with times of 27:19.31 and 33:20.93.
The Beacons return to action next Saturday when they compete in the ECAC Division III Championship meet at Colt State Park in Bristol, R.I.
