DARTMOUTH, Mass. – In their second meet of the 2017 season the cross-country teams continued to show improvement as they competed against a very large field of runners at the 2017 UMass Dartmouth Corsairs Invitational Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
For the women's squad the reigning Little East Conference Rookie of the Year Patricia Mulinge (Brockton, Mass.) returned the trails after missing the first week of competition. The sophomore posted a team-best time of 22:33.05 to earn 64th place overall.
Jimmy Cannon (Quincy, Mass.) and William Barrett (Everett, Mass.) posted the two best times for the Beacons in the men's varsity race as they crossed the finish line with a times of 26:42.78 and 22:26.74. Prosper Lubega (Watertown, Mass.) recorded the second fastest time for the Beacons with his time of 28:05.38 on the 8K course.
Adrianna Fredo (Brockton, Mass.) registered a time of 23:49.90 for the women's team, while Faye Martin recorded a time of 26:54.18. Ashley Hernandez (Miami, Fla.) finished with the fourth fastest time for UMB as closed out her second meet of the year, 27:03.42.
Jack Bushway (Walpole, Mass.) finished with a time of 28:52.02 and Cameron Ford earned a time of 29:20.94 to help the Beacons to their top-20 finish at Saturday's invitational. Jack Davis (Southwick, Mass.) and Adrian Higgins (Milton, Mass.) completed the meet with times of 31:24.40 and 32:04.45 respectively.
Caroline Mullen (Marshfield, Mass.), Annie Appolon (Everett, Mass.) and Olivia Burnes (Paxton, Mass.) closed out the meet for the women's squad on Saturday with their times of 28:00.01, 29:58.71, and 30:06.49.
The Beacons will compete at the 49th Annual Codfish Bowl Meet next Saturday at Franklin Park in Boston.
