BOSTON, Mass. – For the first time in her career, freshman center Kirsten Morrison (North Reading, Mass.) has been named the New England Women's Basketball Association (NEWBA) Rookie of the Week, after helping the Beacons to back-to-back conference wins last week.
The honor comes after; Morrison averaged 18.0 points and 9.3 rebounds per game in the Beacons 2-1 week. She started the week off by dropping in 11 points, while also picking-up 11 rebounds in the Beacons 64-43 conference win over Plymouth State University. Against Bridgewater State University, Morrison produced 12 points and eight rebounds in the tough 10-point loss to the Bears. With career-best 31 points, Morrison carried the Beacons to a 68-55 win over the Warriors. From the field, Morrison was 13-for-23, while at the line she was 5-for-8. She also managed nine rebounds, two blocks and one steal, in a career-high 38 minutes of playing time.
