BOSTON, Mass. – After another standout week, in-which she averaged a team leading 21.7 points per game freshman center Kirsten Morrison has been named the New England Women's Basketball Association (NEWBA) Rookie of the Week for the third time this season.
Tuesday's announcement marks the second straight week that Morrison has earned the regional honor. In the Beacons 2-1 week, which earned them a spot in the Little East Conference tournament, Morrison also averaged 10.0 rebounds per game, to go along with her 21.7 points per game. In all three games, Morrison scored 20 or more points including 23 points in the win over Eastern Connecticut State University on Saturday.
Against UMass Dartmouth the North Reading native finished with 20 points and 12 rebounds. She then followed that up with 22 points and nine rebounds in the non-conference win over Suffolk University on Thursday.
