Olivia Murphy Named Little East and NEWBA Player of the Week

NORTH DARTMOUTH, Mass.—Sophomore Olivia Murphy (Canton, Mass.) has been named the Little East Conference Player of the Week for the second-straight week and the New England Women's Basketball Association (NEWBA) Player of the Week for the first time in her career, after averaging 30 points and 12 rebounds per game.

Murphy led the Beacons to a 2-0 week by putting together a pair of dominant performances.

The sophomore forward started the week by pouring in a program-record tying 33 points in a 79-41 win over Mount Ida College. She set the program-record for a single-game with 15 made field goals and added 12 rebounds in just 26 minutes of play. 

Saturday Murphy led UMass Boston to their program-record third-straight win over Keene State College, by registering a team-high 27 points and 12 rebounds in the Beacons' Little East Conference opening 66-56 win.

For the week, Murphy knocked down 61.9 percent (26-for-42) of her attempts from the field and added two steals and three blocks.

Murphy currently leads the Little East in scoring (21.8 ppg), rebounding (12.2 rbg) and offensive rebounds per game (5.2 rbg).
