CENTERVILLE, Mass.—Sophomore Olivia Murphy (Canton, Mass.) officially capped off the best week of her career and one of the top weeks in UMass Boston program history Thursday, when she was named the ECAC Division III Women's Basketball Player of the Week and selected to the D3Hoops.com Team of the Week.
Murphy becomes the first player in school history to earn the superfecta, as her ECAC and D3Hoops.com weekly honors came on top of already being named the Little East Conference Player of the Week and the New England Women's Basketball Association Player of the Week.
The sophomore forward picked up all four awards after averaging 30 points and 12 rebounds in a pair of wins last week.
She started the week off with an incredible 33 points on 15-made field in just 26 minutes of play in a 79-41 win over Mount Ida College. The 33 points tied the program-record for the most points in a single-game, while Murphy's 15-made field goals reset the program's record for a single-game.
Murphy was just as impressive in a 66-56 win over Keene State College Saturday. She registered a game-high 27 points and grabbed 12 rebounds to lead UMass Boston to their program-record third-straight win over the Owls and a 1-0 start in Little East Conference play. The sophomore also added three blocks and two steals to lead UMass Boston to a comeback victory over the red-hot Owls.
UMass Boston will look to extend their winning streak to five in a row Thursday when the Beacons travel to take on Westfield State University at 7 p.m.
