KEENE, NH - The Keene State College women's basketball team rolled to a one-sided 53-20 Little East Conference victory over University of Massachusetts Boston at Spaulding Gym on Saturday.
The 20 points scored by the Beacons, (nine in the first half and 11 in the second half) is the fewest given up by the Owls.
The Owls (11-5, 4-3 LEC) were led by sophomore guard Sara Laudano (North Haven, CT) who finished with 15 points. Senior guard Alyssa Sapp (Hartford, VT) scored 11 points and senior forward Nicole Simmler (Oxford, MA) added 10 points. Five players finished the game with six rebounds.
Freshman guard Elizabeth Dow (Marshfield, MA) scored five points to top UMass Boston, which shot 7-53 (13%) from the field in the game.
The Owls scored the first 17 points in the game and never looked back. Sapp and Laudano each had five points during the opening run. The Beacons didn't hit their first field goal until Levy had a conventional three-point play at the 8:46 mark of the first half.
Keene State led 30-9 at halftime. The Owls began the second half with an 8-0 run to go up 38-9.
Both teams play road LEC games on Tuesday. The Owls are at Plymouth State and the Beacons go to Southern Maine for a 5:30 p.m. start in Gorham, ME.
