GREGORY-STEWART NAMED LITTLE EAST CONFERENCE WOMEN'S BASKETBALL ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

NORTH DARTMOUTH, MA - University of Massachusetts Boston women's basketball player Evyn Gregory-Stewart (Leonia, NJ) has been named the Little East Conference Rookie of the Week for the week of November 10-16, it was announced today by the conference.
The freshman burst onto the scene in her collegiate debut, posting a double-double of 20 points, on 7-13 shooting, and 11 rebounds to go with three assists, two steals and a pair of blocks in 24 minutes in the Beacons' 81-50 victory over Eastern Nazarene College in the opening round of the 2008 UMass Boston Tip-Off Classic on November 15. She also hit both of her free throw attempts and was 4-7 from three-point range. The guard/forward came back the next day to contribute with six points, five rebounds, a steal and an assist vs. City College of New York in the championship game of the Tip-Off Classic to average 13.0 points, 8.0 rebounds, 2.0 assists, 1.5 steals and 1.0 blocks per game to go with a .450 (9-20) field goal percentage, including 6-12 from three-point range for the tournament. A graduate of Leonia High School, she was also named to the All-Tournament team.
The Beacons are currently 1-1 on the season and will be in action again on Saturday, November 22 when they travel to Jersey City, NJ to take on New Jersey City University at 4:00 p.m. in the first round of the Gothic Knight Tip-Off Tournament.
