CENTERVILLE, Mass. – For her standout play in last week's 5th Annual UMass Boston Codfish Bowl, senior goalie Leah Hallett (Rocky Hill, Conn.) has been named the ECAC East Goalie of the Week as announced by the conference office.
Hallett, who was named to the Codfish All-Tournament team, earned her first conference weekly honor of the season after totaling 58 saves in the two-day invitational. In the 2-0 win over Wesleyan University, Hallett tallied 18 saves to earn her first shutout of the season. Against Bowdoin College in the tournament championship, Hallett was an absolute wall as she limited the Polar Bears to just one goal in regulation. She totaled 40 saves in what would end as an overtime loss.
Also earning recognition from the ECAC East was freshman Kayla Kiernan, who was named an Honor Roll mention after scoring a goal against Wesleyan and Bowdoin. Her score against Bowdoin tied the game at 1-1 and eventually forced the game into overtime.
Women's Hockey returns to action on Saturday when they travel to St. Anselm College for a 1 p.m. ECAC East conference game.
