CROWELL TO COACH AT USA HOCKEY WOMEN'S NATIONAL FESTIVAL

COLORADO SPRINGS, CO - University of Massachusetts Women's Ice Hockey Head Coach Maura Crowell (Mansfield, MA) has been selected as an Assistant Coach for the 2010 USA Hockey Women's National Festival, which runs from August 13-21 in Lake Placid, NY, USA Hockey announced today.
The festival will feature a 22-player squad that will train both on and off the ice at the Olympic Center and Olympic Training Center. Also participating in the Festival will be the 2010 U.S. Women's Under-22 Select Team and the 2010 U.S. Women's Under-18 Select Team.
Harvard University head women's ice hockey coach, Katey Stone will serve as the head coach for the Festival team, with Mark Hudak, head women's ice hockey coach at Dartmouth College, and Crowell as assistants. Hudak previously served as a coach at the 2006 USA Hockey Women's National Festival, while Crowell will be making her Festival debut after having previously assisted at Player Development Camps.
Highlighting the roster for the Festival are 12 members of the silver medal-winning 2010 U.S. Olympic Women's Ice Hockey Team, including four-time Olympian Jenny Potter (Edina, MN) and three-time Olympian Julie Chu (Fairfield, CT).
The veterans will be joined by Festival newcomers Kate Buesser (Wolfeboro, NH), Leanna Coskren (Walpole, MA), Rachel Davis (Horton, MI), Kristi Kehoe (Bakersfield, CA), Felicia Nelson (St. Paul, MN) and Paula Romanchuk (San Jose, CA).
Crowell led UMass Boston to a school-record 17-10 mark this past season and was named the Eastern College Athletic Conference East Coach of the Year. She is the program's all-time win leader with a 73-54-4 (.573) record and has never had a losing season during her tenure, while earning a home playoff contest in each of her five seasons at the Harbor Campus.
