HALLETT NAMED ECAC EAST WOMEN'S ICE HOCKEY GOALIE OF THE WEEK

CENTERVILLE, MA - University of Massachusetts Boston women's ice hockey player Leah Hallett (Rocky Hill, CT) has been named the Eastern College Athletic Conference East Women's Ice Hockey Goalie of the Week for the week of December 1-7, it was announced today by the conference.
Hallet did not allow a goal in 66:18 of action over two games, while making 22 saves. The freshman stopped all 19 shots she faced to register her first collegiate shutout in 60 minutes vs. Castleton State College on December 5 and turned away three shots in the final 6:18 of action to preserve a 3-2 victory over Norwich University after coming on in relief of the injured starter.
A graduate of Kingswood-Oxford School, Hallett has played in a team-high four games and leads the Beacons goaltending corps with a 2.73 goals against average, while owning a .881 save percentage in 176:07 minutes of action. She has posted a 2-0-0 record on the season as one of just seven undefeated goaltenders in the nation with two or more decisions. A former member of the Connecticut Polar Bears junior team, Hallett ranks ninth in ECAC East in goals against average and stopped a season-high of 24 shots in a 4-3 victory at Connecticut College on November 25. She has not allowed a goal in her last 78 minutes between the pipes.
UMass Boston is currently 6-1-1 on the season for the best start in school history, including a 5-1-1 mark in ECAC East play. The Beacons will be in action again when they host State University of New York-Oswego in the first round of the Second Annual Women's Ice Hockey Codfish Bowl on January 5 at 5:00 p.m. at the Clark Athletic Center on the campus of UMass Boston.
