BOSTON, Mass. – Senior women's soccer player Samantha Place (Newton, N.J.) has been selected to compete in the Division III NEWISA Senior Bowl Game on Sunday, December 4 at Merrimack College in North Andover, Massachusetts. With the selection, Place becomes the first player in the program's history to be invited to compete in the annual senior game, which will feature the top women's soccer players from New England.
In her final season with the Beacons, place was crucial in helping the squad to the semi-final rounds of both the Little East Conference and ECAC New England Region tournaments. A four-time all-conference selection, Place capped off her senior season with a spot on the First Team. On the year, New Jersey native helped UMass Boston to a combined 12 shutouts, a 14-7-2 record, and fourth place finish in the conference standings.
Place was one of only two players from the Little East to be selected for this year's game with Keene State's Melissa Dempsey also getting the call. In total, two goalkeepers, seven defenders, six midfielders, and five forwards were chosen.
This year's senior bowl is set to kick-off at 11 a.m. on that Sunday.
