UMass Boston Athletics Gives Back During the Giving Season
BOSTON, Mass. - As part of the holiday season, the University of Massachusetts Athletic department find a way to give back during this time of giving by taking part in two great events on December 11.
A number of Beacons and coaches volunteered some of their time take part in the Helping Hands and the "Shop With A Cop".
At Helping Hands the women's basketball team along with members of the volleyball, softball, and women's soccer team spent the afternoon with over 75 children playing a variety games and coloring. Each athlete took some time to color with a child and when they weren't coloring they were playing games like pin the tail on the donkey, as well as jump roping.
For the "Shop With A Cop" event which is under the new moniker "Heroes and Helpers" the women's ice hockey team joined members of the Boston, Dorchester, and UMass Boston police departments at the Target South Bay. Over 250 children from the city of Boston had the opportunity to shop with the Beacons and of course some local heroes as they got ready for the holiday season.
