WEST HARTFORD, CT - Sophomore midfielder Stacey Rutledge (Meriden, CT) netted the only goal of the match to lead the Saint Joseph College women's soccer team over visiting University of Massachusetts Boston, 1-0, today on the campus of Saint Joseph in West Hartford, CT. The Blue Jays improve to 2-2-0 on the season, while the Beacons fall to 1-2-0.

Following a scoreless first half, Rutledge found the back of the net for Saint Joseph at the 59:12 mark of the second half.

UMass Boston outshot the Blue Jays, 9-5.

Senior keeper Cait Witham (Prospect, CT) earned her second straight shutout with five saves for Saint Joseph, while senior goalie Jessica Penta (Revere, MA) stopped three shots for the Beacons.

UMass Boston will be in action again on Tuesday, September 15 when it hosts Wheelock College at 3:30 p.m. at the Clark Athletic Center Field for its home opener, while the Blue Jays host Emmanuel College on Saturday, September 12 at 1:00 p.m.
