MULRY NAMED LITTLE EAST CONFERENCE WOMEN'S SOCCER ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
Sept. 29, 2008
NORTH DARTMOUTH, MA - University of Massachusetts Boston women's soccer player Kristin Mulry (Holbrook, MA) has been named Little East Conference Women's Soccer Rookie of the Week for her play during the week of September 22-28, it was announced today by the conference office. She becomes the second women's soccer player this season to earn top weekly rookie honors for UMB. Freshman midfielder Molly Kuchar (Ashville, NC) earned the award for the week of September 1-8.
Mulry was instrumental in the Beacons' offense in their only match of the week, netting the lone goal in a 4-1 loss to Fitchburg State College on September 23.
The forward currently leads UMass Boston and is tied for second among conference leaders with three goals on the season and is tied for the team-lead with six points. A graduate of Hingham High School, Mulry is the only player on the squad to have scored more than one goal in a match this season, having tallied a pair of goals in a 4-1 victory over Eastern Nazarene College on September 2.
The Beacons are currently 2-5-0 on the season, including a perfect 1-0-0 mark in Little East Conference play to tie for first among the league's top teams in winning percentage. UMass Boston will be in action again on October 2 when it hosts University of Southern Maine in an LEC match at 4:00 p.m. that was re-scheduled from September 27 due to inclement weather and poor field conditions.
